This week I finally got to the movies to see Aquaman, we said goodbye to a beloved furry family member and I got a blog award from a fellow blogger.

Week in Review – January 28 – February 3

Aquaman! I rarely get out to the movies these days, but Aquaman managed to get me to the theater for a date night. I was a little apprehensive about the movie to start with because I still kind of identify with the classic blond Aquaman, but I was willing to overlook that in exchange for a mostly shirtless Jason Momoa in clingy wet denim.

I liked the movie, but there were some pretty cheesy parts. There were several snorts and derisive grunts from my husband. I could practically feel him rolling his eyes in the dark. Did I mention I’m the family geek? I would have liked a little more backstory about him developing his powers as a kid, but overall I enjoyed the movie. Enough said.

On Wednesday we had a sad day and found our kitty, also named Wednesday, had passed away in the night. She was almost 18 and lived a good long life full of snuggles and warm laps. We brought her with us when we moved to Florida from San Diego, so she was our California girl. I never had such a sweet, loving cat. Just writing this makes me tear up. She was getting so old that it was obvious the end was coming and I thought I was ready, but I guess you never really are… She is very much missed. I feel like the house is missing a little piece, and I still look for her every morning. Our fur babies really do take a little piece of our hearts when they leave us.

Sunshine Blogger Award – I remember when I first started blogging (about 10 years ago on a different blog) I used to do a lot of different awards. The Liebster, Sisterhood, Blogger Recognition and so on. They really do help expand your audience and give you something to write about if you are stuck. These days I’m not so good at participating because I have too much to write about and not enough time to write. But I still think it’s nice when someone takes the time to acknowledge my blog and give a little shoutout. So thanks to both the Stay in Bed Mom and WhenTheFitHitstheShan for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award last week.
