As a long-time sufferer of anxiety, panic attacks and insomnia, I’m always interested in trying something new to see if it works. The Chill Pill from Mend Your Mental is a small handheld device designed to provide natural relief for mental health issues through electrotherapy stimulation. I gave the Chill Pill a thorough test run for two weeks before writing this and was impressed by the results. I found it to be very effective for panic attacks, not as helpful though for insomnia.
*Disclaimer: I was sent the Chill Pill free for an honest review, and this post contains affiliate links.

A Different Kind of Pill
There are many kinds of “pills” that are meant to help you relax and ease anxiety, but this one isn’t the kind you ingest. The Chill Pill is a small oval-shaped device made of ABS-certified stainless steel, wrapped in a silicone shell. It’s lightweight and about 2.5″ long, with a silicon loop to go around your wrist. It is chargeable by USB and the charge lasts a good long while! The small silver dome on one side is the part you place against your palm. You’ll find the “On/Off” button on the side, along with up and down options to increase or decrease the intensity of the pulse. What pulse you might be wondering? That’s the secret to how the Chill Pill works!
Electrotherapy Stimulation at Work
The Chill Pill works by sending a mild electronic pulse at regular intervals. I found you have to move the device around a bit before you get it to hit just the right spot. The intensity also changes with how hard or soft you grip it. It feels like a very light electric zap. You can adjust the speed to be fast or slow, and the intensity so that you feel it, but without it being painful or uncomfortable.
According to Chill Pill co-founder Cheyenne Kingrea, “Every user has a unique experience with where they can feel the pulsing sensation. The position in which you hold it is entirely subjective- as long as you can feel the pulse coming from the large silver section, you’re good to go!”
These light electronic pulses stimulate neurotransmitters that act as chemical messengers that influence and connect your nerve cells. These neurons have the ability to sooth or stimulate your entire body, head to toe. The regular waves pulsing from the Chill Pill send the message that it’s time to relax and let the tension melt away.
How to Use the Chill Pill
The Chill Pill can be used in two ways – as an immediate response to a panic attack or anxious situation, and as a long-term therapy that may help with insomnia, depression and anxiety.
Immediate Benefits:
I suffer from panic attacks, and I absolutely hate them. They are confusing and frustrating because they come on with no warning and for no reason. Sure sometimes it’s for obvious reason like public speaking, but the ones that happen when I’m just doing normal things are incredibly annoying to me. They make me feel helpless, and unfortunately if they spiral out of control then I can’t breath and feel like I’m literally dying. I feel like I now have a secret weapon to help pull me out of the panic attack spiral after testing it out in a real life situation.
It came on like a wave of fear. All I was doing was sitting and chatting with my husband on the patio. Suddenly my heart started beating faster and the world around me sounded fuzzy. I felt heavy and weird. My husband was talking but I couldn’t really respond, so I just blurted out “I’m having a panic attack again for no reason” and sank down into my chair and tried to breath slowly. That’s when I remembered the Chill Pill. Problem was, it was inside the house and I had to decide what would be worse- running in to get it, or trying to explain to my husband where to find it. I opted for making a mad dash to the front door myself.
I grabbed the Chill Pill, sat down and cranked it up so I could feel it right away. Once I got a good zap that got my attention, I dialed it down to a reasonable level and just sat for a moment, trying to concentrate on the sensation in my hand and not in my chest. I tried to focus on the little pulse in my palm, while holding it first in my left hand as the directions instruct. It’s timed at 20 minutes and if you are still anxious after that, you are supposed to do it again in your right hand.
As the electronic waves pulsed and drew my mind away from the chaotic frenzy of the panic attack, I started to feel my heart rate slow and go back to normal. After a short time, I was able to go back to the patio and enjoy my evening, as I discreetly kept my little Chill Pill tucked into my palm.
I was so impressed at its effect that I decided to try and use it to head off the anxiety when speaking to a group. I did a zoom presentation about being an author and a Q & A for a group of school children, and as I spoke, I held the Chill Pill in my hand. It was like a tiny rhythmic reminder to chill out and relax.
Long-term Benefits:
To obtain a more overall, long-term benefit, The Chill Pill is recommended for daily use. One 20 min. morning session, in your left hand and one evening session before you go to sleep. For the evening session, it is ok to fall asleep with it in your hand. It will shut off on its own.
I haven’t been able to really tell if it works for insomnia, because I really like to read before bed. And I find I can get to sleep if I shut the book as soon as I feel a little hint of sleepy and clear my mind. I found the little pulse distracts me a bit from getting to sleep and I found myself awake again and wanting to read more. So I tried holding it while I was reading to see if I could reap the benefits and get my reading in. I can’t give a clear yes or no on whether it is working for better sleep just yet, but I will continue to test it out. The instructions say significant changes in sleep patterns may take 2-7 days of consistent use before you notice a difference.
Where to Find It
You can purchase the Chill Pill at MendYourMental.com or on Amazon for $65. You can also follow them on Instagram and TikTok at @MendYourMental – and keep an eye out there for promo codes and specials!
I honestly recommend trying this product if you have problems with panic attacks and anxiety. It’s a pretty cool way to to put discreet, effective therapy in the palm of your hand and calm a chaotic mind.
*Side note- I recently saw on Amazon they have something that looks exactly the same, and even comes in the same box, but it isn’t the real “Chill Pill” brand. However, if you want to try something half the price first, click here to check it out.
Chill Pill Review Update:
I never did get used to using it for sleep, but still find it useful for moments of anxiety. I’ve had several comments from people having trouble feeling the pulse. It can be tricky at first, but once you learn to hold it it’s easy. You need to give it a minute after you turn it on to get going. I’ve noticed you can’t really feel it right away after you turn it on, like it needs to build up power first.
First – Turn it up! There is a button on the side where you can increase the intensity. This can help you find your spot before turning it down so you aren’t getting a big zap.
Next – Try holding it so the silver dot goes directly over the spot between your thumb and first finger, rather than the center of your hand. I can almost always get a good little pulse in that spot.
Try those two things and you shouldn’t have a problem feeling the little pulse!
I’ve also been getting a lot of questions about using it for insomnia, and as I mentioned above, it did not help me with that. I have always had problems with insomnia and have had good luck with this melatonin: Solimo Melatonin. I take 3 or 4 of them, sit down in bed to read and as soon as I feel the effect hit I turn off my Kindle and try to clear my mind and go to sleep. If you don’t try to sleep at the first hint they have kicked in, then you miss the magic window and they don’t work. Unfortunately when I tried the Chill Pill at night, the little zap actually kept me awake. But I do honestly recommend trying the Chill Pill for anxiety and panic attacks.
Can you actually feel the pulse? I bought 2 and felt nothing at all. They sent replacements and honestly still can’t feel any pulse. My daughter tried and she is again not feeling a pulse. Very disappointed honestly but maybe I am expecting too much from them and it is meant to barely be felt??

Yes! Did you turn it up? And move it around? If you still have it, use the button on the side to turn it stronger. Then try moving it slowly around your hand. I feel it best right near my thumb.
You should definitely be feeling something, but you do have to move it around to find the right spot. I hope this helps. If you have turned it up and tried different areas and still feel nothing then it isn’t working. Because there’s no way you could miss that zap when it is cranked up lol.

It really had to be charged first also. It doesn’t come ready to go. I feel the pulse on my finger tips quite strongly, you can also move it to other parts of your body. I wonder about using it for EFT on the different tapping points..

Glad you finally found the pulse! I tried it on different pulse points just to see how it felt and really zapped myself on some of them so be careful lol.

They are definitely not a scam. If you haven’t received your items, you should follow up with the company and package tracking. An order issue doesn’t make a company a scam.

I purchased the Chill Pill for relief of Anxiety and Insomnia. I tried it the first night, it did take awhile for me to fell the pulsing, but unfortunately it had the complete opposite effect on me. The longe3rI held on to it the more anxious and awake I became. I seriously felt lie I had just downed a double espresso.

I don’t use it for sleep because I found the constant pulse kept me awake, but I will sometimes use it shortly before bed to relax. But I was never able to fall asleep with it on and in my hand. I would recommend trying it before bed, and not while actively trying to sleep, or you might be putting extra anxiousness on yourself because you are lying there wondering why you aren’t asleep yet.

Is the Chill Pill purchased on Amazon the real deal? Is is good or not?

The ones on Amazon are knock-offs. The one on the Chill Pill website is the real one and the one that I tried myself. You are always taking a chance when getting an imitation product on Amazon, but it’s sometimes worth a shot with the free returns. However, if you get one there and it doesn’t work, then I suggest trying the real one from the actual Chill Pill website. I still use mine!

I’m sorry I don’t know the answer to that question. I just tested out the product and don’t work for the company. If they don’t specifically do it, I’m sure there’s a similar device available there you can try though.

I just received the “chill pill”, charged it, and tried many different areas on my hand but never felt anything at all!! Tried it for one night thinking maybe I’m not supposed to feel it! But used on both each for 20 + minutes each and when I woke up it had turned off and now it won’t come on at all!! I’m thinking I have been a fool for falling for this!!!
I did not buy from Amazon!

Are you using the side button to make it stronger? You should be feeling something, especially if you have it all the way up! It’s quite a zap at full blast. If you have it all the way turned up, and feel nothing then you should exchange it.

This product has changed my life! I could always get to sleep, but if I woke up too early or in the middle of the night I would find it impossible to drift off again. Now it takes me 1-2 mins, and it’s had this effect from day one.

Wow! Glad to hear it worked so well from somebody. A lot of the comments are from people who can’t feel the zap, lol.

My wife tried it and it caused her muscle to twitch. Is that normal? How could she stop that from happening? Thanks

You should be able to just move it to a different spot and still feel it, but without the twitching. Or turn it down a bit. It makes my hand muscle twitch if it is up high and I hit the spot between thumb and forefinger.

Can I use the Chill Pill if I am on anti depressants?

Yes, you just hold it in your hand, so there’s nothing to ingest that would react with other drugs.

I worked and worked with it and finally found that I could feel a pulse if I held the metal button on the inside of my middle finger joint near the end of my finger. But had to hold it for a few minutes before I felt it.

Have you tried turning it up? Now that you know the spot you can feel it, you should be able to increase the intensity to make it easier. It’s different for everyone, but the spot I always feel it most is at the base of my thumb and up toward my pointer finger.

You place it on your hand, so I don’t see how it would affect a pacemaker. However, that’s a question only your doctor can answer for sure.

Did i get a knockoff? It is totally silver. No colour on surrounding band or on wrist strap, just silver. I also am getting no effects from it and I ordered two!

It sounds like a knockoff if it doesn’t have the colored part. I haven’t seen the original Chill Pill in all silver. Did it come in a box that says Mend Your Mental on it?

Yes but also says made in China

I’m not sure where they are made, but it sounds like maybe that is a fake one if you didn’t get it from the Mend Your Mental website or their Amazon store.

My Chill Pill is silver too – it is by Mend Your Mental. The box says the origin if Shenzhen, China.
This product has not worked well for me. Once in awhile I have been able to feel a pulse but not on a regular basis.
I’m going to send it back but I need a picture of what the charging cable looks like. I have a short black one that I think belongs to it – just double checking.
If someone can send a picture of the charging cable I would appreciate it- Thank you!

Just curious if you got it on the Chill Pill website, or from Amazon? I don’t recall what the charging cable looked like. I immediately tossed mine in a box of similar cables.
