Don’t Fall for the SHEIN Collaboration Scam

If you suddenly get an e-mail inviting you to be a SHEIN model and collab with them for PR boxes and perks, don’t fall for this SHEIN Collaboration scam! These e-mails are not associated with SHEIN and are just the newest scam to try and steal your money. Do NOT send them any money! Real collab offers do not cost you money.

Update: They have added a legit looking contract! I added example pics of the contract at the bottom of the post.

Update: This scam is still going strong! And now there’s a new scam to get people to make fake SHEIN resale shops. Click here if you are looking for info on that scam!

SHEIN collaboration scam

SHEIN Collaboration Notice

If you aren’t familiar with SHEIN, it’s a fast fashion website with ridiculously cheap (and cute!) clothes. They have TONS of things, and they are almost all under $20. On top of that, they offer lots of sales and coupons.

All the clothes are pretty cheaply made, but it’s a great resource for cute dresses and pieces for costumes. I shop there a lot when I’m looking for ready-made pieces for cosplay, and I always tag them on Instagram, but have never gotten any kind of response…until now.

I’ll be honest, I was a bit excited when I got the first e-mail with the subject “SHEIN Collaboration Notice.” Since I often share and tag companies on Instagram, it’s pretty normal for me to get collab opportunities sent to my e-mail.

But also, since I get these type e-mails often, I sensed something off about the first one which claimed to be from the owner of SHEIN but had a Gmail e-mail address. I didn’t reply back to that one, but after getting another one today, I decided to reply back and see exactly what this scam is they have running.

The SHEIN Collaboration Scam E-mail:

Below is a screenshot of what one of these collab scam e-mails looks like.

e-mail about shein collaboration scam

As you can see, it comes from a Gmail address, which immediately makes it look suspicious. At the bottom, there is no actual info below “Best regards,” it’s just blank. But wow, they’re going to send me a bunch of free stuff and pay me $1000 every time I post? That’s got to be legit, right?!? Not a chance.

I replied back out of curiosity and got a long e-mail response telling me about how they are branching out and need people like me to help! I just need to fill out the form they send.

SHEGLAM Influencer Collaboration

The link actually sends you to a page that looks like it may be on the real SHEIN website. I filled out the form, which just requests your top three platforms and the amounts of followers, along with your e-mail. I then e-mailed back to let them know it was complete, and that’s when they start asking for money!

The text of the e-mail:

Dear esteemed, (this is how they address me on all the e-mails. Very legit, lol)

Please go to our website Shein and select 8 items you like. This can be trousers, shirts, gowns, shoes and bags of your choice with sizes. When you’re done selecting send us screenshots of the items you’ve selected on here. We can get them together and have them ready for delivery to your address.

You will also attach the following information :

1.Your full name

2.Your current address

3.Your contact details

4.Your bank details or preferred method of receiving payments

This information is need to enable us make payments to you for your posts and also enable our delivery partners @FedEx delivery service ship your package to you.

PLEASE NOTE THAT: For the first delivery we will only cover for 70% of the delivery fee and you will cover for 30% of the delivery fee which is $50 . This only applies for the first delivery, subsequently as from the second month we will be covering all the delivery fees. You will be receiving our products every month for 12months to use and make posts.

We await your response.

My response:

“Just to confirm, the delivery fee is $50? I can’t imagine the delivery fee on a few items would be $165! I could probably get 10 items plus delivery for $50 doing a regular order. “

As you can see, they want me to send them $50 to cover 70% of a “delivery fee.” So, 70% of approximately $165 is $50. They are saying it is going to cost them $165 to ship me 8 items. Yeah right.

The SHEIN Scammers Just Keep Trying

When I let them know I wasn’t interested in paying $50 for “free” items, they sent back this:

Dear Esteemed,
We understand your insecurities and the need to take precautions. This is an act that we commend as we’re aware of the many scam activities going on right now.
We would love to help take away any form of doubt that you’re currently having but we can’t do what you’ve asked of us.
This is due to the fact that our Instagram page is meant for showcasing our designs not for collaboration campaign. As you will never see us announcing any of our collaboration campaign on our Instagram page.
We cannot send the PR package for you to work with, without the information we’ve requested from you.
We cannot call you now because we have thousands of influencers out there waiting for our calls and attention and we can’t get to all at the moment.
Regarding details about the shipping, we’ll like to inform you that you’re to pay 30% which is $50 for the first time delivery as we’ll be covering 70% of the delivery cost and custom charges.
Be informed that we will be sending you $5000 total worth of PR package as this collaboration campaign is a big deal to us.
You’re required to post only twice and week as we’ll be paying you $1000 per post tagging us @SHEINOFFICIAL all social media platforms.
It is a well known fact that influencers make at least $8,000 for a month of collaboration with us.
We hope you understand, inform us if you intend to proceed.

And Now I Just Mess with Them

After that, I decided to write the blog post so I figured I would string them along and see where it goes. I asked a series of inane questions and they just kept replying back asking for me to send them the 8 items I wanted.

So finally I just took a screenshot of a page on SHEIN that showed several items, and sent them that, and said I was a Medium. This was all I sent:

shein website page

It wasn’t even eight items, and I didn’t send color choice or anything. But what do they care? They aren’t really sending me anything anyway! Note that at this point I never did send them my location, address or any other info they might need for shipping.

They replied back confirming they had gotten my selections, along with all my shipping info (that I never even sent) and would be forwarding it to FedEx. I just need to send the $50 to their manager’s e-mail: majestyfrvr@gmail.com (yes, that’s the real e-mail. They are scamming people so if they get spam from it, then good!) And I need to mark it Friends & Family too, so they can access it right away and send me my free stuff.

At this point I just started replying back with random things like how I can’t get Paypal to work, why do they have a gmail address, can I add extra items, etc. They have diligently replied back with the request for $50 and affirmations that they are not a scam and once I sent the money, they will contact me from the actual SHEIN website. I’m not going to hold my breath for that.

If It Sounds Too Good to Be True…

This is another one of those that falls under the rule, “If it sounds too good to be true…it probably is.” Just like those companies that want to pay you big bucks for Facebook ads, the SHEIN collaboration scam people are just trying to scam you with an offer that sounds too good to pass up.

I hope you found this post before you sent anyone money. As soon as I got suspicious about the e-mail I started Googling and didn’t really run across anything. So I’m posting this now to save other people from wondering about this new amazing (and totally fake) opportunity with SHEIN.

PS- In one of my follow-up e-mails I told them I only had $30 and would they take that? They said they’d be happy to compromise their fee to work with me. They must really like me! I wonder if they’d take $10?

Even More SHEIN Scam E-mails

I thought I was done, but I shared this post on Instagram, along with several SHEIN hashtags, and guess what? My inbox is filled with more SHEIN collab offers! I’m cutting and pasting a couple so you can see what they are sending:

    Terrible grammar and spelling.

    • Thanks so much for this Blog. I got the Email listed above from “Amanda Mcneil” and initially believed it sending my information unfortunately however after things didnt seem right as they kept being super demanding expecting me to reply within minutes of them sending an email thats when i knew something wasnt right So I linkeding Amanda turns out she hasnt worked at shein since october. also googled and found this blog which is confirmation so thank you so much. although once they would have requested money would have been a giveaway as well as you never pay for a collab.

  2. IThankyouuu for sharing this! You saved me. I also received this email offering collab.
Though i was also wondering and i have to confirm. ( sorry my english grammar is not that good)

  3. OMG! I really appreciate you for letting posting this, I literally just received a similar email to this and it is a gmail email also. I had a feeling in my gut that it could be a scam but wanted to do some research before I said anything. Thanks so much for sharing this! ❤️

  4. Haha Thank god I found this post. Ridiculous how stupid they think some people are. I received an email yesterday from SHEIN COLLABORATION Headquarters loool bs I knew it was too good to be true. Scammers man ! And you are right there’s no other post on Google about this new Scam !!

  5. hahahaha oh I also got this offer but when I check their email I see it comes from a Gmail address so I doubted it’s not real. so I search on google about it then I got your article.

    • Glad you found the post! I actually asked them about that gmail address (for research purposes lol) and they assured me that once I paid the $$ and was accepted to the program then I would be forwarded to someone with a SHEIN address. They said SHEIN was too busy for everyone to have an official email. 😂😂😂

  6. Got an email from them thinking it was actually SHEIN. I had feeling suspicious feeling based on their grammar and seeing a gmail address, but ignored it for hoping I would be actually receiving $3000 as they promised. Ofc my gut was telling me no way, too many red flags. They tried to get me to pay for the shipping fee of the items I selected, and immediately I knew it was a scam. After reading this article and it having the exact template the scammers sent to me, glad I trusted my gut and denied furthering our collaboration

  7. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS POST . I knew it was too good to be true. I wanted to believe it so bad lol messed up people do this .

  8. Thanks for sharing I have one just like it. 3k a month to post. But the gag is I actually live 5 min away from the sheik headquarters. So the delivery fee wasn’t adding up regardless

  9. Just received an email and googled for validity. Thank you for posting your experience! So glad I found you 🙂

  10. Omgggg I got the same email yesterday!! They are on the hunt! They were requesting that I pay 150 for shipping and sent me their cashapp name lol when I put in the name I got a Latoya Lipscomb I was like this can’t be right. Good thing I decided to google about it and thank you for your blog!!! The email I got was from a gmail account also!

  11. I wish I would’ve know about this before hand!!! I also received and email from sheincollaborationcph@gmail.com the only thing is I thought it was legit and paid 60 for shipping and received further instructions and also a contact! Now after reading this no bueno

  12. Thankn you so much for posting this❣️
I received the same email today coming from gmail. 🙄 This was the first red flag.
“We noticed you are a fan of our brand” made me laugh because I have never ever heard of this brand tbh. Also, I’m a hair blogger on IG, never showed interest in fashion on my page + I’ve been inactive since summer due to some private matters. I also love exposing scammers on my page. If they bothered to check, they would notice that. $1000 per post sounds appealing, unfortunately many people would fall for this scam. Outrageous! Thanks again Candy 😘

    • Wow that’s very random that they reached out and you never even mentioned them! I get the scam e-mails usually only when I post pics and tag SHEIN. It sounds like they are casting an even wider net now and just going after anyone and everyone. Glad to hear you didn’t get scammed!

  13. I literally received an email like this recently also. Then they started asking me for a $1000 commitment fee 😒 that’s where they lost me because how does it go from me now having to pay anything to now I have all these different things I need to pay for JUST to sign up. I’m so upset I was so excited I shared the news on my platform and all but it’s ok God will bless me with a REAL legit opportunity soon. Y’all be safe they got $50 outta me

  14. Thank you for this post! My mom got an email from “Shein” about a collaboration. She had never even shopped with Shein before so I knew it was a scam. I sent her this post because she didn’t believe me that it was a scam. Scam avoided! Thank you!

  15. OMG thanks so much for this blog! I was just about to sign the contract and I was so skeptical so I decided to google. MY GOSH!! SCAMMERS!!

  16. Literally what I got today from sheinofficialcollaboration4@gmail.com
We @SHEIN OFFICIAL are launching our newest clothing brand and we would love to collaborate with you.
We are launching our influencer campaign and really want you involved, you will be given the opportunity to receive our packages at your own exclusive discount rate to share, make shoutouts and reposts to our Instagram and website.

We will be sending you our PR packages worth $5000 every month, this means you will get to show off our newest items completely, just tag us with the clothing either wearing them or just showing off the package.

    Why are people so evil

  17. Thank you soooo much for this!!!! You literally saved me!! I’m glad I google everything hahaha and so appreciative that you took the initiative to put this information out there <3

  18. Thanks so much for your post, I was kind fall it for it at the beginning but it was suspicious as I got the real email from the manager of shein Ireland in a pop store. sheinofficialmodeling@gmail.com

    Hello,

    Best regards
    @shein

    This is what I received.

    You save us!

  19. Unfortunately I fell for it. Working with my bank to file a claim and have been in contact with Shein and they are looking into the matter and trying to help.

  20. I’m a plus-size content creator and received one from Shein and Boohoo. I was crying make post on Snapchat how blessed and lucky I am and my hard work was going to pay off. The grammar was off and new it was a red flag so I looked up shein collaboration email and found this blog. I’m so sad, it was all a scam. I didn’t get to the part about the information but I thought I finally made it. 🥹 Regardless, Thank you for the blog! It saved a lot of time and especially disappointment.

    • I know the excited feeling! Sorry it wasn’t real. I had been tagging SHEIN for a bit and was excited they noticed at first as well. And then alarm bells went off when I got to the “shipping fee.”
Keep doing what you do, and don’t count this as a set back. If the scammers are taking notice of you, the real companies eventually will too ❤️

  21. Girl,
I got this email today. 3 times in fact. 2 from “SHEIN official” and one from “SHEIN Curve.” I’ve never even bought from the curve side of SHEIN, so I knew this was a fraud. I also noticed that there was 2 “E”s in SHEIN! (Like, really?) So I played this as well and told them I contacted the local FBI with screenshots and recipients of others they’ve done this to and that they will be in contact with them shortly 🤣
I haven’t received an email back! Lol.

  22. I got this same exact emails today too and caught it on time when I was asked the 30% delivery fee, lol.. I’m too smart for this haha.. I warned my blogger friends about it too. Thanks for posting this! We influencers and bloggers need to look out for one another against these scammers.

  23. I received the same email today. Thanks for writing an informative blog post regarding this.

  24. I literally just received this same email and contract. They offered me 10items and $3k a month. I found it weird that there was no contact information listed in the signature part of the email.

  25. Thank you so much. I didn’t send the money nor did I share my account information so that they could pay me.

  26. Thank Heavens I researched before I send them my information! Thanks for posting this! Totally too good to be true! I’m from the Philippines and they’re going to send me $1000 per post, that’s insane! 🤣 oh well! Glad I found this! Thank you! Hopefully, other content creators won’t fall for it!

  27. OMG!!!!
I signed the contract and sent it to them. And then I had to find some clothes and send to them, I did and then I just got a email back that it couldn’t be send. And I didn’t see any red flags at all. I was just happy to see the money. Omg. What do I do now??? They have my adress, phone number and my name..

I should have seen the red flags cause they asked me where I lived..

  28. Hello, I have some question! I already send contract (signed) and my address , phone number, name… Is that contract legal effected?

  29. I got this email this morning, and almost fell for it too. (My “shipping” went up to $60.)
But what’s interesting is that I was wary and told them that, stupidly, I know. So they sent me someone else’s email address, the new person also sent a huge reply, and sent videos as proof, I guess. (Videos of, and I quote, “I have a German woman that just finished signing her contact with us and she already started receiving payments from us dear.” That person sent me two videos of the emails, all in German, of their correspondence. So weird.)

Anyway, I had a gut feeling and made a simple google search and luckily your article popped up 🙂

  30. omg I got this email today and it changed name as Helena Stenhammar and when I searching on linkdin she actually works in the company! but I couldn’t get rid of my doubts again and again so I reached here.
    Thank you for your post!!

  31. OMG! I am Korean and I got this email this morning. She(or he) said his name was Helena Stenhammar in the email. and when I searched on LinkedIn there is real Helena works on Shein as well!! but I searched more and found your post!
    Thank you so much

  32. THANK YOU SO MUCH @Candy Keane , i received an email from the FAKE SHEIN account just now actually (just exactly like one of the ones you shared) and I had a feeling it wasn’t real. And God led me to look it up online and that’s how I found you.
    God bless you.

They won’t be expecting the response I just gave them. Hahaha

  33. Someone saying that is a Shein researcher contacted me offering me to become a merchant on their new S-merchant edition platform to do dropshipping. Have you heard about this business model with Shein or is it another way of scam?

    • Hi, I’m not familiar with that one, but I’m pretty sure that SHEIN doesn’t do dropshipping. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t start, but I would be very cautious and treat this as a scam. I wouldn’t trust it unless the e-mail comes from a SHEIN address.

  34. I recently tagged Acne studios on a post. Afterwards I got the same kind of email but from Acne studios. Also about the 30/70%. With an Acne studios gmail 🙃

  35. Thank you for posting my daughter was also approached the same way I thlu it was strange Shein using Gmail but when I got the PayPal account I was like wth “donate”. Actual email. Thanks again.

    • They didn’t even bother to change the name on that donate link! lol Sounds like the scammers are getting a bit sloppy. Glad you found the post though, and didn’t give them any money!

  36. Thank you for this story. I got a new email address for you, they just emailed me yesterday with this account ( sheininfluencer01@gmail.com ) . I responded with. If you would like to continue this collaboration please send me the contract at an authorized account like @shein.com

  37. nope they got me i spent money i didn’t have to have them send clothes
to buyers that i never saw who actually bought other then the first letter of an email. date and time.
i spent just over $300 so this is a loss for me but i just learned my lesson the dumb hard way. 🙂

  38. It’s now 2024 and they are still scamming people. Thank you for this post I just got the same email except they made another email address. This time it’s “ sheincollaborationicons@gmail.com

I figured I’d Google their collaboration email address and then I came across your post. Thank you for saving me from wasting my time with them!

  39. merci beaucoup pour cette article j’étais à deux doigt d’envoyer l’argent et heureusement j’ai trouvé ça bizarre donc je me suis informé, vous me sauvez vraiment la vie

  40. I’ve received several of these emails! The first one I almost believed for about 5 seconds. Today I received one that began with Hello and no name following it. This was my response. Anyone feel free to use it!

    Hello Blank Space!
This is the oldest scam around! Let me guess you’ll want me to pay $50 for shipping? No thanks! Any real collaboration NEVER asks for payments of any kind. Good luck with your scamming!
    Regards,
    Can’t Fool Me
