In 2019, I did a blog review of Similasan Allergy Eye Relief Drops. I regularly update old blog posts, and when I went to update that one, I realized I could not find their eye drops anywhere. I did some research to find out why you can’t find Similasan Allergy Eye Relief Drops on their website anymore and found out there was a class-action settlement against them!

What Happened to Similasan Allergy Eye Relief Drops?
I did a favorable review, after their “Allergy Relief Kit” arrived at my door just in time for pollen season. My eyes were a puffy mess, and the eyedrops did a good job of soothing them.
Apparently, the popular homeopathic product, along with all of Similasan’s eye drops, disappeared from store shelves and online listings in late 2023—and there’s a very specific reason why.
FDA Steps In
On September 11, 2023, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning letter to Similasan AG. The FDA objected to the company’s eye drop products—including Allergy Eye Relief—for making drug-like claims without going through the agency’s rigorous New Drug Application process.
Under federal law, even homeopathic remedies that claim to treat or prevent conditions must be evaluated for safety and effectiveness before being sold as drugs. The FDA also flagged concerns about manufacturing practices and the inclusion of a preservative called silver sulfate.
Their Allergy Eye Relief drops also contained extracts of two flowers known for their healing properties: Eyebright (Euphrasia) and Sabadilla lily (Sabadilla). Eyebright is a flower that has been used since the Middle Ages to treat eye problems and is intended to temporarily relieve minor symptoms of eye discharge, redness and swelling of the eyelid. Sabadilla is a flower from the lily family and is intended to temporarily relieve watery eyes and eyelid redness.
Voluntary Suspension and Recall
In response to the FDA’s warning, Similasan voluntarily halted U.S. sales of its Allergy Eye Relief Drops. This pause affected not only the Allergy Relief Eye Drops but also Pink Eye Relief, Computer Eye Relief, and others.
By October 19, 2023, an official recall notice confirmed that the .33-ounce versions of several Similasan eye drops were being pulled from store shelves. Retailers nationwide participated in the removal, and consumers were advised to stop using the recalled products.
Class-Action Settlement
The regulatory issues didn’t stop with the recall. In November 2024, Similasan reached a $3.575 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit. Plaintiffs alleged the company marketed the drops as effective treatments without FDA approval and failed to disclose potential risks.
By July 2025, the settlement was finalized, covering purchases made between September 11, 2017, and February 20, 2025. Eligible customers can receive $2.50 per product purchased—no proof of purchase required, though receipts can increase the payout. The deadline to file a claim is October 15, 2025.
Why This Matters for Consumers
This case is a reminder that even over-the-counter products, especially those used in sensitive areas like the eyes, are subject to safety and effectiveness standards. FDA oversight helps ensure that products are both safe to use and marketed truthfully.
If you’ve used or purchased Similasan eye drops in recent years, it’s worth checking your medicine cabinet—and if you qualify, filing a claim for reimbursement.
How to File a Claim
To see if you’re eligible and submit a claim before the October deadline, visit the official settlement website at Home – Similasan Eye Relief Settlement. Filing only takes a few minutes and could put a little money back in your pocket.

I don’t trust the fda. Sounds like they were targeted. Every homeopathic eye doctor had to halt too. They eyedrops work and fda knew it and out a stop.
I agree that the eye drops did work! I used them when I had allergies.
Even though homeopathic medicines are mostly water and it seems counter-intuitive that they should work, these worked to really smooth my eyes when irritated etc. The need for some testing of products is valid, but the high cost to do this and get FDA approval likely prevents products like this one from helping people.
These drops helped me tremendously. I have had absolutely no problems from using the dry eye and dry eye combination drops. The FDA should not make it so prohibitively expensive to get new remedies on the market. The class action lawsuit was most likely brought at the urging of someone whistleblower from the Fed. Having worked in the legal field, you might be surprised what lowlifes crawl out of the woodwork when there is “free” money and free representation to be had. I’m saddened that this great product is lost to the thousands of us who loved it.
im sorry to hear that, Ive been looking everywhere for it . it was a good safe product!
I agree! I was surprised when I went to update my old post and found out they were no longer available.
I looked all over for more of the Allergy relief drops. I then found your article and I thank you for the information. I am sorry to hear the USA no longer carries – I really think products from Europe are way better than ours to begin with. Just nonsense.
Love ❤️ these eyedrops! Been looking everywhere for them ! Now I see why I can’t find them. I’m sorry ! They are safe and effective. Have used them for years!
Thank you for sharing this information! I, like the others who have responded here, wondered what had happened to such a great product. I agree that there needs to be some affirmation of products on the market, but I think “the tail has begun to wag the dog” especially in this case. Wouldn’t we be much better off using God-given, naturally grown products in our bodies than what the big pharma gives us? I guess we’ll just have to go to ebay for Canadian or overseas carriers. Thanks again for your helpful blog!
Thank you for reading and commenting. Always nice to know when an article is helpful!
What can we consumers do about this sham? Can we demand they be brought back to US markets? Big Pharma was at work again. The FDA is a scam. Look at all the harmful products that are foisted on us, from GMO’s to food dyes, to dangerous metals in vacines etc. Americans are among the the sickest people in the world, take the most drugs (at inflated prices), and have outrageously high mother and infant motrality rates. We are pawns in the food and drug greed game.
I tried several of their dry eye therapies and was happy with all of them and especially their Allergy product and am shocked to hear of another FDA screwup to American consumers
I agree with all of the comments! The allergy eye drops were UNIQUE in that they could be used more than once per day. I have searched & searched, questioned pharmacists, and can’t find anything similar. There are only formulations with lots of chemicals, use only in limited times. My eyes need soothing every few hours, so just screw me. Thanks, FDA. What I didn’t know was about the lawsuit. Obviously some greedy lawyers decided to cash in – what a shame for this fine company!!!
Dry Eye and Allergy Eye were my favorites. I used the drops (either of the aforementioned) 2 x daily for over 10 years. I never had any issues and both products worked well for me. What a shame that the fda shut them down. An Unwarranted intrusion.
No wonder I can’t find them anywhere! Thank you very much for the information. Like others who have replied I have used the drops for years. Works great no matter how many days you need it. The FDA approved ones aren’t supposed to be used more than 2 – 3 days! How is that helpful?!! Where can one get homeopathic allergy eye drops?
I have used 2.25 bottles of Similasan dry eye relief for every day for over 11 years for Sjorgens and multiple chemical sensitivity. That is 821 bottles per year and and 9033 over my life time. The fraud in this case is the FDA and “they” who brought the fake lawsuit. I hope hell is real for the people who brought this lawsuit, you have brought much suffering to many good people and you deserve nothing less than to live in firey hell for eternity. I am the phase 3 clinical trial for these eye drops and they are the best and closest feeling to our natural tears. Thanks to the clowns who brought this shame lawsuit and the scumbag lawyers… I have nothing but chemicals to use for eye drops. I should be suing all of them for causing a disabled person who suffers from MCS to suffer even move.
