Most people know about RYZE mushroom coffee, but they also have a Mushroom Matcha packed with the same functional mushrooms! Read on for my RYZE Mushroom Matcha review after trying the product both hot and iced, along with a comparison to RYZE mushroom coffee.

Green Goodness: RYZE Mushroom Matcha
If you like matcha and want all the benefits functional mushrooms can provide like mental clarity, improved digestion, and an immune system boost, then I highly suggest giving RYZE Mushroom Matcha a try!
If you read my RYZE mushroom coffee review, you’ll see I’m very honest about taste, texture and effects. So, while the coffee has a distinctly earthy flavor, the matcha actually tastes like matcha.
I try a lot of different things, and RYZE is one company I keep returning to due to the quality of their products. I am also an affiliate: Click here to try RYZE and save 15% with code CANDYKEANE15 (To find the matcha, scroll to the bottom and click Shop All Products)
RYZE Mushroom Matcha Flavor Review
I’m answering this question first in the review, because it’s what everybody wants to know- what does mushroom matcha taste like? It tastes like matcha!
And a decent matcha too. Not weird, burnt or mushroomy.
RYZE uses organic ceremonial grade matcha for the best flavor. Ceremonial grade matcha is the highest quality form of matcha green tea, traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies.
It’s made from the youngest, most tender tea leaves from shade-grown Camellia sinensis plants, resulting in a bright, vibrant green powder with a naturally smooth and slightly sweet flavor.

Does the RYZE Matcha Have the Same Effect as the Coffee?
Out of all the mushroom mixes I have tried, RYZE mushroom coffee has the best kick. You can totally feel it after drinking it.
So, to be completely honest, the matcha does not quite pack the same punch. However, this could be due to the fact it does have a bit less caffeine.
Mushroom Matcha: ~ 30 mg of caffeine per serving.
Mushroom Coffee (Medium Roast): ~ 48 mg of caffeine per cup.
Mushroom Coffee (Dark Roast): ~ 80–90 mg of caffeine per cup
So, I found it to be a good boost for clarity, but not quite as much energy, which makes it perfect for drinking later in the day.
How to Mix and Drink Your Matcha
I did spend some time looking up how to make traditional matcha, which includes sifting the power and using a whisk. To keep things simple, I made this matcha the way it says on the package- 1 tbsp. of matcha powder, add 2oz. of water (hot or cold), stir, then add the rest of the liquid.
I tried it with both hot and cold water and found that it easily dissolved and mixed well either way! This is different than the coffee, where even with hot water and a vigorous stirring you end up with some lumps and a little sludge in the bottom of the cup.
I tried it hot and cold, with and without sweetener, and also with milk. I found it comparable to my usual iced matcha latte from Starbucks after mixing it hot, adding milk and sugar and pouring it over ice.

What Mushrooms Are in the Matcha Mushroom Blend?
The RYZE Mushroom Matcha has the same blend of six functional mushrooms that you’ll find in their mushroom coffee. The mushroom and their properties are listed below.
One thing to note- it may not taste as mushroom-forward as the coffee, because it may contain less mushrooms. I noticed that the coffee boasts “2000 mg of mushrooms,” while the matcha refrains from mentioning a specific amount.
Cordyceps
Known as the endurance mushroom, Cordyceps is often linked to better oxygen use and sustained energy. It’s the kind of support you want when your day doesn’t slow down, helping you feel alert without over-caffeinated jitters.
Lion’s Mane
This shaggy white mushroom is all about the brain. Lion’s Mane is prized for sharpening focus, boosting creativity, and promoting long-term cognitive health. Think of it as fuel for clarity when you need to stay on task.
Reishi
Sometimes called the “mushroom of immortality,” Reishi helps the body unwind. It’s believed to support balanced mood, reduce stress, and promote restful sleep—perfect for keeping calm in a busy world.
Shiitake
Famous in the kitchen but powerful in wellness, Shiitake mushrooms are rich in nutrients that support the immune system and healthy metabolism. They bring a natural layer of defense to your daily routine.
Turkey Tail
Named for its colorful, fan-shaped appearance, Turkey Tail is packed with prebiotics that help nourish gut bacteria. A healthy gut often means better digestion and stronger immunity overall.
King Trumpet
This hearty mushroom rounds out the blend with antioxidants that help the body fight oxidative stress. It’s often associated with longevity, vitality, and a sense of balance that carries through the day.
Bonus Ingredient: Blue Spirulina
Blue spirulina is a nutrient-rich algae extract packed with antioxidants and protein. It helps reduce inflammation, supports energy and focus, strengthens immunity, and gives foods a natural vibrant blue color—without artificial dyes.
I’m wondering if this is why it had a slightly blue tinge when I added milk to make a matcha latte! I thought maybe it was the cup I had it in, but it makes sense with the blue spirulina. Otherwise, it is a nice deep green.

Benefits of Matcha Tea
Mushrooms aren’t the only reason to drink this green blend! Matcha tea itself offers a mix of health, energy, and mental benefits that make it a great compliment to the functional mushroom blend.
Some of the possible benefits of matcha are:
1. Long-lasting energy and focus
Matcha contains caffeine, but it’s balanced by an amino acid called L-theanine. This combination delivers a calm, steady energy boost—without the jitters or crash you get from coffee. It’s often described as alert relaxation, making it ideal for work, studying, or meditation.
2. Antioxidant powerhouse
Because you consume the whole ground tea leaf rather than just steeping it, matcha is packed with antioxidants—especially catechins like EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate). These help fight free radicals, support cell repair, and may reduce inflammation.
3. Supports metabolism and fat burning
Several studies suggest that matcha can help boost metabolism and enhance fat oxidation during exercise. It’s a favorite in wellness circles for those looking to support weight management naturally.
4. Detoxification and liver support
Matcha’s rich chlorophyll content gives it its vibrant green color and helps the body eliminate toxins. Chlorophyll also supports healthy liver function and oxygenates the blood.
5. Enhances mood and concentration
L-theanine increases dopamine and serotonin levels, improving focus, memory, and overall mood. That’s why monks traditionally used matcha to stay alert yet calm during long meditation sessions.
6. Heart and immune health
Regular matcha consumption may help lower LDL cholesterol, regulate blood sugar, and strengthen the immune system thanks to its high levels of polyphenols and vitamins A and C.
7. Skin and anti-aging benefits
The antioxidants in matcha protect against UV damage and help slow signs of aging. Some skincare brands even use matcha extract in their formulations for its calming, anti-inflammatory effects.
Conclusion
RYZE Mushroom Matcha combines the benefits of high-quality ceremonial grade matcha with the functional properties of powerful mushrooms. Whether you prefer it hot or iced, this matcha offers a smooth, pleasant flavor that distinguishes it from the usual mushroom coffee blends.
While it may not deliver the same caffeine kick as RYZE Mushroom Coffee, it provides a gentle boost perfect for any time of day, particularly in the afternoon when you seek clarity without overstimulation. The blend of functional mushrooms contributes not only to improved cognitive function and mood stability but also enriches the overall health benefits associated with matcha.
With the added bonus of blue spirulina and a nutrient-rich profile, RYZE Mushroom Matcha stands out as a healthy and tasty option for matcha lovers and newcomers alike. If you’re looking for a refreshing beverage that supports your wellness journey, you might want to give RYZE Mushroom Matcha a try!
