We had a great time as Sesame Street Star Smores at Star Wars Celebration! It was Keelan’s first time as a part of a big cosplay group. We got off to a bit of a rough start with our little Luke Piewalker, who was promptly renamed “Luke Crywalker.”
But then there was an attitude shift after we managed to get everyone dressed and out the door. He stayed in his stroller for the first half, just taking everything in, and then wanted to get out and run around for the next bit.
He high-fived wampas, took pics with Chewie and didn’t seem to mind all the crazy costumes around him one bit. Guess this means he is ready for Disney World!

Celebration is always a great event for Star Wars fans and I was really excited to get to share it with my family. This is my third time, but their first! It was also husband and son’s birthday weekend, so it was a celebration all around 🙂
And to top it off, our Star Smores cosplay made it onto Entertainment Weekly’s coverage of the event!

What is Star Wars Celebration?
Star Wars Celebration is the ultimate fan event dedicated to all things Star Wars. Organized by Lucasfilm and ReedPop, it brings together fans, creators, and stars from across the galaxy to celebrate the beloved franchise.
First held in 1999 to promote The Phantom Menace, the convention has since become a highly anticipated gathering, featuring major announcements, exclusive merchandise, behind-the-scenes panels, and interactive experiences that immerse attendees in the Star Wars universe.
The cool thing? It’s often held in different locations. I’ve attended the one in Orlando three times, but they hold them all over the world.
One of the biggest draws of Star Wars Celebration is its ability to unveil new content, including trailers, casting announcements, and insights into upcoming movies, TV shows, books, and games. Fans get the chance to hear directly from actors, directors, and writers, offering an inside look at the creative process behind the saga.
Cosplay is also a major part of the event, with attendees dressing as their favorite characters, from Jedi and Sith to Mandalorians and droids, making the convention a vibrant showcase of creativity and passion. And some people do mash-ups, like our Sesame Street Star Smores Group.
Beyond the big reveals and cosplay, the event fosters a strong sense of community among fans. From interactive exhibits and fan-led panels to exclusive collectibles and themed activities, Star Wars Celebration is more than just a convention—it’s a shared experience that brings together generations of Star Wars enthusiasts. Whether it’s a first-time visitor or a lifelong fan, attending Celebration is an unforgettable way to connect with the galaxy far, far away.
