Welcome to Element City
Element City is where fire, water, air and earth live together, although not always harmoniously. Ember’s parents left their hometown and built a business in the big city, one they hoped Ember would one day take over. If I’ve learned anything from kid’s movies, it’s never to expect your kid to take over the family business.
Ember’s fiery temper causes an accident with the pipes, which brings Wade into her life, and he changes the way she sees the world and her future.
It’s a pretty typical “kid rebelling against the future her parents laid out for her” type story but told in a unique way with beautiful animation. It even made me tear up at the end! The whole family enjoyed it.
And as a bonus, my son now knows all four elements and what elements actually are. He said if he could be any element, he would pick fire because of the cool trick she does with the glass blowing.

A great review! I missed this one when it was released in theaters but may check it now after reading your review. I’ve always been a huge fan of Pixar that has been a leader in creating memorable animated movies. What I love most about the studio is it produces films targeted towards both children and adults alike. The kids are always drawn toward stunning visuals while us adults marvel at the meaningful messages of these movies. For instance, “Inside Out” was an incredible film about emotions appealing to both children and adults. It made me reflect on my own emotions and their impact on my life. So, I’ll definitely check out “Elemental” when I have the time.
I think if you liked Inside Out, then you would like this one! Both good animated films.
