Temu and Their Shady Affiliate Program

Temu is happy to have you as an affiliate to promote their store and products, but then they’ll quietly suspend your account and let you continue to promote them while you make nothing from it. You’ll only find out you’ve been suspended when you try to check your balance and suddenly get this message:

We apologize for any inconvenience caused, but it seems that you have been involved in one or more behaviors. As a result, you will no longer be able to participate in the event. The specific behaviors that have led to this decision include:

  1. Counterfeiting or plagiarizing Temu’s official website or official account, or abusing Temu’s logo, brand identity, etc.

2. Engaging in activities that are inconsistent with the intended operation of the program, such as posting your referral code as meaningless comments under any videos on any platforms.

3. The use of any unethical or fraudulent means to obtain commission, such as false advertising, malicious dissemination of negative comments, etc.

It then gives you the option to your e-mail and phone number for them to contact you if you feel this was a wrong decision. I sent the form and have yet to hear back.

Update: I did hear back from them after a few more days, and they referenced this blog post! It was a very polite e-mail and they offered to look into what happened for me. I told them no need to look into because I wasn’t interested in being an affiliate or influencer anymore. They apologized on behalf of Temu and said to contact them if I wanted to resolve the issue.

So, although I don’t like what happened, they did at least try to resolve the problem.

Overzealous Temu Affiliates

Last year I couldn’t open my e-mail without seeing multiple messages from Temu asking me to be an ambassador or an affiliate. I first tried their ambassador program and ended up making $8 for way too much effort. So then I tried their affiliate program and that seemed to be going good at first.

The only problem is that every time I would share a post about Temu on my Facebook or Pinterest, I’d get a ton of Temu spam from other affiliates trying to share their codes and links.

I followed all of their rules. I even did a video and article about how the website overall was not a scam, you just have to be careful what you are buying. This is the only thing I can think of that they may have not liked- that I was honest and said some of the things were not good. But my overall review was positive and saying to give it a chance.

So, I was shocked to check my affiliate balance and find myself blocked from the account with just that message accusing me of being involved in one of their banned behaviors. I did no such thing!

Who knows how many customers I sent their way through all my posting and sharing. They let that continue, all while my account was suspended. No e-mail, no notice, no warning.

My Temu account worked normally besides that. I continued to shop and place orders and share things. I had just forgotten to check my balance in a few months because it was usually not all that much anyway. I wouldn’t have known anything had changed if I didn’t go to the affiliate section.

So I DO NOT recommend joining their programs or promoting them. Yes, you can get some good stuff on there after wading through 99% of the knockoff junk. I will still continue to shop there if I’m desperate for something and need it for cheap. But my overall opinion of Temu just went way down.
