How I Became a Busy Donkey

Do you know what a busy donkey is? I probably wouldn’t have run across it if I hadn’t purchased a couple of shirts from Jacksonville Mom. What followed was a comedy of errors with a surprise ending involving a dancing donkey.

B-U-S-Y D-O-N-K-E-Y

It all started with a purchase from their blog’s store, which is through Tee Spring. I picked out one shirt that said “Raising Beach Babes” with a palm tree and another black one that said “Jax.”

Weeks went by, holidays happened, I went on a cruise, and at some point, I realized I never got the tank tops.

I contacted the Spring store several times to ask about it and got no response, so I finally messaged the mom blog about my issue. They contacted Spring, and then they finally contacted me. (Spring has no phone number so they only way to reach them is e-mail)

At this point, I know you’re like, “Candy, this isn’t a funny story at all, you’re just complaining about a late order.”

But wait!

What’s the Donkey Busy Doing?

Spring finally sent me the order but it was just a grey tank top that said, “Raising Beach Babes” in barely visible print, and no palm tree. Ummmmm, where’s the other one and what happened to the gray one?

I sent Spring a picture and they said they’d send me a new one, and assured me the black one would be sent as well.

After 3+ months of messages between me, the blog and several different Spring customer support people, I finally got the tank tops. Sort of.

The black one arrived and looks great. The gray one arrived and looks THE SAME. But it wasn’t alone. It came with a blue shirt I’d never seen before. A shirt I found confusing, and maybe a little intriguing.

It was a joyful looking dancing donkey and it said B-U-S-Y D-O-N-K-E-Y.

Ummmmm, again, what?

Being Busy!

I wondered what exactly IS a busy donkey? Do they think I ordered this? Or is this some kind of bonus shirt for my trouble? Why on earth would they choose this shirt? Are they calling ME a busy donkey??

I badly wanted to Google it, but was also a little scared of what kind of possible NSFW nonsense might pop up. Finally, I gave in and looked it up, only to find a guy called @thedarcymichael on TikTok cooking, watering plants and basically getting stuff done while singing, “B-U-S-Y D-O-N-K-E-Y, What’s the Busy Donkey doing? Being Busy!”

Shortly after that, I decided to say screw it, I’m done trying to get my order right. I was ready to just drop it, keep the blue tank top and embrace my own busy donkey. It’s now one of my favorite shirts and a fun little chant to get me fired up to take care of business.

*Jacksonville Mom did their best to help me, and Spring was going through some kind of changeover at the time, so my ordering experience isn’t the norm.

  1. So, are you going to give credit to Darcy & Jer for their original content? Or plagiarize theirs and play it off like it’s your own?

    • If you actually took the time to read the post, you’ll see I explain where the phrase comes from, give them credit and include their TikTok handle. You should read stuff before you decide to just be rude to random people.
