Candy Keane is a blogger in Jacksonville, FL, military wife and mom to one energetic little boy that gives her plenty to write about. She is passionate about writing, cooking, planting veggies, making costumes, renovating her house, life at the beach and all things geeky. (also that is not a pseudonym or nickname, and the last name is pronounced Keen)
She is well known in the geek community for her cosplay and costume design, which led to her being featured in many magazines, books and documentaries like Jedi Junkies and Morgan Spurlock’s Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope. She ran her own costume business, Three Muses Inspired Clothing, for more than ten years before deciding to close it and become a stay-at-home-mom. It was a decision she never anticipated making, but is still very glad she did.
Candy holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Florida, and has a work background in promotions and brand marketing. She chronicles her first time mom adventures on her blog GeekMamas.com and is currently writing a book about her IVF experience. It took seven years of infertility testing and treatments to make just one good egg and she wants to share that story, and a little hope, with the millions of women being affected by infertility and holding on to the mantra that it “just takes one.”
