We are keeping up with the Christmas activity theme this week with a visit to see Santa, a Polar Express event at the beach, another tree lighting and a gingerbread house making event.

Christmas Cards done early!

I got my Christmas cards made in November and shipped the first week of December for the first time ever! I really wanted my husband, who’s deployed, to be part of the family card so I had him send me a photo from overseas. I was really happy with the way they turned out. I got them printed at Snapfish, because I liked their layout and back printing options. They also offer money back at Rakuten (previously Ebates) so, bonus!

Gingerbread House Making

We went to a Gingerbread House making afternoon at the Atlantic Beach Country Club. I thought we’d be putting them together, but when we arrived, there was an undecorated house, icing and a variety of candy decor. This was a first gingerbread decorating experience for both of us so I grabbed the icing bag, my son grabbed the candies, and we started working on our messy masterpiece.

About two minutes into the experience, I was very happy we were doing this some place other than home. I was covered in more icing than the house, little candies were everywhere, my son dumped over his water and all the candies started to melt. He ate half the stuff we were supposed to stick on the house, and then also tried licking the house itself. It was a fun afternoon activity, but we were the only duo there in a room full of families so that was a little sad for me, but the kid had fun and didn’t mind one bit. And that’s what really matters.

Beaches Polar Express and Tree Lighting

We started the day at the Beaches Polar Express and ended it at the Beaches Town Center tree lighting. We met Santa, rode a little train, looked at a big train and then watched a little bit of the movie Polar Express. I still have not seen the whole movie! After that we headed straight to another beaches celebration and the annual lighting of the Beaches Town Center Christmas tree.
