Amazon Reviews Removed and Blocked, Update

Last year I wrote a post about my experience with Amazon removing several years’ worth of reviews and blocking me from reviewing products. I had reached the top 10k reviewer status and wanted to keep it going so I reviewed all my purchases. The only thing I did wrong (that I can figure) was submit too many reviews in one day, and suddenly my account was deemed “suspicious.”

I wasn’t given a warning, or a way to appeal the decision. Thet just sent an e-mail with a customer service address that nobody ever responds to. I know this because I e-mailed community-help@amazon.com at least 20 times with no response at all.

Filing a BBB Complaint Against Amazon

One of the people who had commented about it happening to them as well had some success going through the BBB and got their account returned to normal. I figured it was worth a try, so I filed a complaint.

Just like the other person, I got a response within two days from a person at Amazon who apologized and said they would look into it.

Later that day, I got the SAME form e-mail that I originally got, saying there was suspicious activity, and my reviews were removed. It didn’t even have my whole name on it, just my last name. Very impersonal. And it gave me the same customer service e-mail I had been messaging with no luck.

I then got a follow-up from the BBB asking if I was satisfied with the outcome. Of course, I was not. It took Amazon less than an hour to reply back with basically, “Too bad.”

Still Blocked from Reviewing

So unfortunately, that didn’t work for me, and I still can’t leave reviews, which irks me every time I really want to review a purchase. I wish I didn’t find Amazon so darn useful so I could just walk away. But I’m hooked on that next day shipping and easy returns. So, I guess I’ll just continue our love/hate relationship for now.
