Artisan Snacks or Pop Culture Limited Edition Snacks

TokyoTreat’s theme is “Be My Valentine” and the box features exclusive, limited edition, and seasonal snacks that are only available in Japan for a limited time. This month’s box is filled with favorite treats to celebrate Valentine’s Day like Strawberry Shortcake KitKat, Pokémon Candy Hearts, Bake Chocolate and much more. Every box we’ve gotten has had a different KitKat flavor.

Sakuraco’s theme is “Valentine’s Indulgence” and features artisan snacks that support local Japanese snack makers, like Peach Dorayaki, Chocolate Danish and Mini Heart Arare. All the snacks are chosen to pair perfectly with their Cocoa Sencha Tea, which leads us to our next difference.

Herbal Tea or a Seasonal Juice or Soda

The Sakuraco box comes with two packets of traditional Japanese tea, and this month’s the variety is Cocoa Sencha Tea. It is crafted from sencha tea leaves from Japan and cocoa husk from Costa Rica. A unique attribute of this tea is that it reduces waste by utilizing the cocoa husk, which is rarely used.

The TokyoTreat box comes with a seasonal juice or soda in small can. The February box features Sweetheart Fruit Juice, which is a mildly sweet and tangy juice.

Special Tableware or Special Ramen

The other main difference between the two is that every box of Sakuraco comes with a unique home goods item or tableware. Our February box had a pretty Kikko Plate, hand crafted by Gifu artisans.

And the TokyTreat box always has a new Ramen flavor. For February it’s Pirikara Spicy Ramen, which is a super spicy flavor!
