OrganiiLand Protein Coffee Review: An Easy Way to Add More Protein to Your Day

It seems like once you hit 40, you start hearing about protein everywhere. Now that I’m 51, I’m often looking for ways to sneak more of it into my diet. Getting enough every day can be a challenge, so when OrganiiLand offered to send me its protein coffee and matcha drinks, I was eager to give them a try.

The three flavors I tested: Mocha, Matcha, and French Vanilla.

I received three packets each of French Vanilla, Mocha, and Matcha, which gave me enough to test different ways of preparing them. My favorite cold was Mocha, and my favorite warm was Vanilla. But the biggest thing I learned was that these drinks fit into my day better as an iced afternoon treat than as a replacement for my morning coffee.

What Is OrganiiLand Protein Coffee

OrganiiLand is a Houston-based company with a lineup that includes whey-based protein coffee, protein matcha, and a separate brewed mushroom coffee. The drinks I tested contain 22 grams of grass-fed whey protein per serving, with the coffee versions combining protein and Arabica coffee.

Although Matcha comes in the sampler alongside the coffee flavors, it’s a matcha-based drink. The company’s Protein Coffee Ingredients page lists ceremonial-grade matcha for that version.

The company currently lists its retail sampler as six packets, with two of each flavor.

How I Made the Protein Coffee

The directions on my packets call for one packet mixed with 6–8 ounces of water or milk. Shake for about 15 seconds, or use a frothier for 15–30 seconds, then pour over ice.

It’s designed to be prepared cold, which the founder also emphasized when we discussed the product. You can enjoy it warm, but after trying both ways, I understand why iced is the recommended option.

My favorite method is mixing it with milk and enjoying it with ice. Milk makes it taste creamier, and dairy milk adds a little more protein. If you use a plant-based milk, the extra protein will depend on which one you choose.

Mocha Was My Favorite Iced

The Mocha mixed with milk tasted like a light chocolate shake. It wasn’t too chocolatey or too sweet, and it was the flavor I found easiest to finish.

I had hoped for a stronger coffee taste, but once I started thinking of it as a creamy afternoon protein drink, I enjoyed it more. It gave me that little treat feeling while adding protein to my day.

This is the flavor I plan to order again, especially prepared cold with milk and ice.

Vanilla Reminded Me of a Sweet Latte

The French Vanilla tasted noticeably sweeter to me. Cold, it reminded me of a vanilla milkshake. Warm, it reminded me of a very sweet vanilla latte.

Vanilla was my favorite of the flavors I tried warm, but the sweetness became overpowering about halfway through. I could only get through about half a cup that way.

Cold was much easier for me to finish. If you enjoy sweet, creamy drinks, this might be more your style. The sweetness tasted pleasant to me, without the artificial-sweetener aftertaste I dislike; it was simply more sweetness than I wanted in a warm cup of coffee.

Matcha Wasn’t My First Choice

I wasn’t really a fan of the Matcha, but matcha is something I have to be in the mood for anyway. It wouldn’t be my first choice when ordering more.

That’s why trying a sampler is a good way to go! You can compare all three before deciding which flavor you want to keep drinking.

What’s in OrganiiLand

According to OrganiiLand’s ingredients page, its protein coffee combines grass-fed whey, Arabica coffee, lion’s mane, and chaga. The protein matcha uses grass-fed whey and ceremonial-grade matcha with lion’s mane and chaga.

The company promotes 4.5 grams of BCAAs per serving and describes the drinks as containing adaptogens and a prebiotic and probiotic blend. It markets the functional mushrooms for focus and antioxidant or immune support, and the gut-health blend for digestive support. Those are the brand’s stated benefits; my testing focused on flavor, preparation, and whether I could fit the drinks into my routine.

One thing that surprised me is that OrganiiLand says it uses no sugar and no sweeteners of any kind. So, there isn’t a named sweetener I can point to as the reason Vanilla tasted so sweet to me. I am wondering how they make it sweet?

How It Compares with My Usual RYZE Coffee

I already drink RYZE mushroom coffee, so I wanted to compare the caffeine and mushroom ingredients. OrganiiLand lists about 40 milligrams of caffeine per serving for its protein coffee. RYZE’s Medium Roast lists about 48 milligrams, while its Dark Roast product page lists 80–90 milligrams. RYZE’s updated Dark Roast ingredient guidance specifies approximately 90 milligrams.

RYZE Medium RoastAbout 48 mgCordyceps, lion’s mane, reishi, shiitake, turkey tail, and king trumpet
RYZE Dark RoastAbout 90 mg in its updated guidanceCordyceps, lion’s mane, reishi, shiitake, turkey tail, and king trumpet

That puts OrganiiLand fairly close to RYZE Medium Roast for caffeine, but at less than half the amount in the current Dark Roast. The mushroom blends also differ: they share lion’s mane, while OrganiiLand’s reviewed labels list chaga, which isn’t in RYZE’s six-mushroom blend.

For me, the main reason to add OrganiiLand is the 22 grams of whey protein. I’m not treating the number of mushroom varieties as a measure of which drink is better.

Finding Room for More Protein After 50

I tried the protein calculator on OrganiiLand’s website. Based on my weight of 150 pounds, age over 50, and goal of losing fat while maintaining muscle, it suggested a daily target of 129 grams of protein.

That was more than I expected! I’m treating it as the calculator’s estimate for the information I entered, rather than a universal requirement for women my age. Still, it highlighted how much attention it can take to fit protein into a day.

A 22-gram serving contributes about 17 percent of that suggested target before adding milk. Every little bit helps, especially when it’s something I enjoy drinking.

My calculator result based on the information I entered.

Because I wanted a stronger coffee flavor in the morning, this didn’t replace my usual morning cup. Instead, I started having it in the afternoon in place of my little afternoon coffee.

I even tried adding a scoop of instant coffee to make it taste more like coffee. That experiment didn’t turn out that great, so I’m sticking with the preparation I liked best: Mocha mixed with milk and enjoyed icy cold.

Protein Coffee Versus Protein Mushroom Coffee

I was confused when I went back to the website and noticed a separate Protein Mushroom Coffee. Didn’t my sampler drinks already contain mushrooms? Yes, they did, but this is a different product.

The sampler drinks use grass-fed whey and provide 22 grams of protein per serving. They’re powders designed to mix with cold liquid. The separate Protein Mushroom Coffee is ground Arabica coffee that you brew in a drip coffee maker, pour-over, or French press.

That brewed version lists 6 grams of collagen protein, L-theanine, a prebiotic and probiotic blend, and five mushrooms: lion’s mane, chaga, reishi, turkey tail, and maitake.

So yes, the separate mushroom product is a coffee-based brew, rather than the creamy flavored protein drink I tested. It sounds closer to the type of morning coffee I was originally imagining, but I haven’t tried it, so I can’t compare the taste firsthand.

Why Mocha Is the One I’d Buy Again

OrganiiLand protein coffee turned out to be a tasty and easy way for me to add extra protein to my diet.

At 51, I appreciate an easy option that helps me work toward my protein goal. The functional mushrooms and the brand’s focus on digestive support are additional features that interested me, but the practical appeal is a drink I enjoy that supplies 22 grams of protein.

For my taste, it’s definitely better iced. I’m still getting used to reaching for a cold coffee-style drink, but Mocha with milk and ice is delicious enough that I plan to get more. Vanilla may appeal more to someone who likes sweeter latte-style drinks, while Matcha simply wasn’t my favorite.
