WordPress has finally added an option to publish a blog post and not send it to your e-mail subscribers! Previously, the only way to post without sending it to everyone was to turn your blog private, publish, then switch it back to public. It was a bit of a pain in the butt, to be honest, so I was quite happy to discover this new option today.

How to Publish Without the E-mail
Having subscribers get every post by e-mail is great, but sometimes you want to publish something and not send it to everyone. Maybe it’s a small update, or maybe you already published that day, and you don’t want to overload your e-mail list. Whatever the reason, WordPress did not make it easy to get around it.
Then today, I saw a new option when I went to publish. I’m going to be testing it out for the first time with this post.
Step 1: Click Publish
Go to the right side of your screen (or wherever your options may be.) I am using a desktop, so mine are in a block on the right. Click the Publish button and scroll down to the Newsletter section.
Step 2: Go to Newsletter Section and Choose Post Only
The Newsletter section is where you can now choose to post and send to everyone, or choose “Post only,” and post without sending an e-mail blast. You can also choose if you want to share it to your connected social media just below that.

It’s that easy! No more switching to private and back again. I’m pretty happy about this new update and am going to test it right now. If I’ve misunderstood how this new option functions, I’ll come back and update.
We Have Success!
Yes! It worked! WordPress even confirms, as shown in the screenshot below, that the post was published without sending it to everyone.
Thank you, WordPress, for this handy feature I’ve been wanting for a while now.

This is awesome!
It totally is! It’s funny how I just noticed it. Would be nice if they let us know about new features lol
Right??
Mine just automatically only decides to send notifications to only 20% of my followers. 😛 😀 Then again maybe 80% of them have left AND somehow managed to actually close an email account. :\
Personally, I like getting the email notifications, but I have a separate account set up just for WP. It lets me know who has posted and commented though since WP only displays a limited number recent events with the internal notifications.
I publish sponsored posts that I don’t want to send to everyone, even 20% of them lol. It helps pay the bills, but usually are kind of lame or just odd. Like one was about the history of radiators. Not so fascinating stuff lol. I call them the blog’s commercial break. And now for a word from our sponsors…
I send to all subscribers anyways but it’s nice to have the option if you don’t want to use it.
It’s a great option to have! I actually use it a lot.
