Week in Review: Spiral Stairs, Making Frittatas, Back to the Zoo and Paper Steps

This week we got a big delivery of stair parts, learned to make frittatas, joined the Jacksonville Zoo and got a pretty personalized print for my son’s room from Paper Steps.

Week in Review: March 4 – 10

A big box of stairs was delivered this week! It’s all in boxes because we got a spiral staircase kit and will be building it ourselves. Do you know how pricey it is to have someone build one for you? We were quoted neary $10,000! We got the kit for just over $2000.

We are replacing a very decrepit set of stairs in the backyard. When we bought the house, they said we needed to add a gate with a lock or tear it down to pass inspection. It was still sort of usable, so we went with the gate. Over the past two years it rapidly deteriorated! I’m excited to replace one more eyesore from the house. Little by little this renovation project is coming along! This is the last piece to complete the new upstairs deck. We added on to the little deck that was part of the original stairs.

We joined the zoo! On Wednesday we visited the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens and decided to officially become members. I plan on doing an entire post about our visit this week. Zoo membership gets you free entry and we plan to put it to use as much as possible. It’s pretty amazing how fast an entire day at the zoo goes by! I think we explored every corner of it that day. We saw cool animals, fed giraffes, rode the carousel, played on the playground, pet goats, rode the train and pet stingrays!

Keelan loved feeding the giraffes so much we had to go back and do it twice!

I made Frittatas this week for the first time and they were super easy and yummy too! Panera makes a good spinach and bacon frittata I really like so I thought I’d try my hand at making them at home and have something easy to pop in the microwave in the morning. These were so easy! You just mix up a bunch of eggs, pour that into a muffin tin, add extra goodies (I added cheese, tomatoes, green onions and ham) and then bake in the oven at 350 for 20 minutes. I posted a the recipe pic I had saved on my phone. It calls for chopping up onions in the mix, but I skipped that part:

And now for this week’s Product Sponsor: Paper Steps – Personalized Children’s Wall Art

Paper Steps sent us a beautiful personalized print for Keelan’s room. It fits his surfer/ocean theme bedroom perfectly. They are located in the UK, but ship internationally and it actually arrived pretty quickly!

They have a really cute selection of letters, animals and more, all created with love and designed by artist David Mattock. Each piece can be personalized with the name of your choice.

Ordering is easy: Just go to https://papersteps.co.uk and pick out your favorite print, customize and then get ready to frame your pretty pic when it arrives!
