Geek of the Week: Roni from RL Pyro Art

It’s time to get back into posting the Geek of the Week! The column took a little hiatus and now we’re jumping back into things with Roni Luebkert, a talented artist in Jacksonville, FL that’s doing some amazing things with woodburning.

1) Introduce yourself:

Hi, I’m Roni Luebkert of RL Pyro Art. I am a Woodburning Artist and stay-at-home-mom from Jacksonville, FL. I found my talent for this art after getting sober in 2014 and have been doing it obsessively ever since.

2) What do you geek out on?

I am a HUGE fan of Wonder Woman and will take any opportunity to nerd out over random facts about character history.

3) Marvel or DC? and Why?

While Wonder Woman is my jam, I like to nerd out on Marvel over DC. Though I feel like DC characters tend to have more substance and complexity to their story lines.

4) Star Wars or Star Trek? and Why?

If I have to choose, I will say Star Wars, only because I have seen more of them than I have Star Trek.

5) Were you a geeky kid or did you come into it later in life?

I have always been kind of a geek, into things that no one else really got. But I didn’t truly embrace my geekiness until I was an adult.

6) Are your kids into the geek stuff too?

I have two boys and they are both equally geeky! The oldest is WAY into Anime (I get so lost when he talks about it lol). The youngest is a GIANT Marvel fan, he loves all things Avengers and changes his name on a daily basis from one character to another.

7) Are you working on anything right now you’d like to share?

I just finished up a bunch of Harry Potter themed art pieces for an event at SunRay Cinema last week. In line for production I have a ton of Disney related, retro cartoons, cult horror, and Sailor moon pieces coming up in the future.

Big thanks to Roni for answering my 7 geeky questions!
