Editor’s Picks: Groove Life, IllumiZoo, Animal Kingdom and Dragons at MOSH

Things are finally happening again! It’s exciting to be moving into summer as events are starting to be planned again. This past week we got to attend the preview night for the IllumiZoo Summer Spectacle at Jax Zoo, did a quick trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, checked out the new Lost World of Dragons at MOSH and Groove Life sent me some awesome Marvel themed rings, a belt and a watch band to test out.

Groove Life rings

Groove Life – Accessories for the Adventurous

I thought the Marvel themed silicon rings Groove Life sent me were so cool that I took a bunch of pics with them! They also sent a really nice watch band and belt. Groove Life’s products are meant to last and stand up to whatever adventure you pursue in life. They believe in this so much that their products come with a 94-year unlimited warranty.

The rings and watch band are made of silicon so they won’t get beat up like regular rings. And the tactical belt is heavy duty webbing with a magnetic belt buckle. They have themes for sports, Marvel, Tony Hawk and more! Even customizable options. Find their entire selection at GrooveLife.com

IllumiZoo at Jacksonville Zoo

From now until August 27, 2021, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens will be lit up on Friday nights from 6-10PM for their IllumiZoo Summer Spectacle. Tickets are available online: $20 for members, $25 for non-members and children under two are free.

Highlights of the event include:

  • Sunset celebration in Riverview Gardens with live music and photo contest
  • Whimsical animal stilt-walkers
  • Live music at Riverview Garden and Range of the Jaguar
  • Fog bubbles, aquatic projections, and marine photo walls for selfies at Play Park
  • Beverages for purchase including a long-necks beer bar at Savanna Blooms Garden
  • Culinary themed delights available such as Angus beef and Blue cheese “chips” or Red and Green “chips” with chimichurri
  • Interactive moving projection paws to delight and engage kids and adults
  • Fire and ice theme including fire spinning and lighted hula hoops at Gardens at Trout River Plaza
  • Activities for kids to have specialized fun
  • Limited-edition gifts for purchase
  • Unlimited Wildlife Carousel rides for children

They did an amazing job putting twinkling, glowing, flashing lights everywhere throughout the zoo! This is one you don’t want to miss. And night time is the perfect time to visit the zoo in the hot summer!

Lost World of Dragons at MOSH

The Jacksonville Museum of Science and History has a cool new exhibit called the Lost World of Dragons! Explore and learn about dragons in different cultures through interactive exhibits and animatronic dragons. The exhibit will be up until September 6th, 2021. We went opening night, and I made a new Renaissance Wonder Woman costume for the occasion.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

We had one day left on the passes we bought a while back, so we did a quick trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We did not see a lot of animals, but we did ride a lot of rides! The last time we went, our son was too little so it really wasn’t that much fun. I just remember it being hot. Being six-years-old made a total difference! He was able to ride everything and we had a great time. The lines weren’t bad at all, and you don’t have to wear your mask outside. But you do still have to wear them on the rides.

For more about what Disney is like during COVID, check out this post: Disney During COVID. The only thing that has changed so far is the relaxed mask policy. The shows are still closed and half of the restaurants. You also still have to make your park reservations ahead of time. Don’t wait because we were planning on going later in the summer and it was booked up until July!

Quite a pic-heavy round-up this week! It was great to be back so I was snapping photos like crazy of everything. I’m looking forward to covering more fun events this summer!
