I’ve just spent my morning chatting with Keanu Reeves on Facebook, and he wants to send me $500k for Christmas! I mean, it looks like him so it can’t be a scam, right? All his pics are of him, but he’s using the name Evan Kate for some reason. He even sent me a video of money being packaged! The money looked foreign, but the video was a bit blurry, so he sent me a few closeups of US $100 bills just to be clear.

Don’t Get Scammed by Fake Celebrities

Keanu isn’t the only one getting spoofed on Facebook lately. There’s a lot of these fake celebrity profiles where scammers are pretending to be celebs on “secret profiles.”

They will ask to be friends, and then offer you some amazing prize money. He will ask for your personal details: name, address, phone and then verify it is real by being extra creepy and sending you photos from Google earth. I sent him a random house in my old neighborhood, and he sent me pics of that.

Then he will send you all the details and info for your UPS package and tell you to give that to the FedEx delivery man. Yep, FedEx now delivers for UPS when they’re sending you money from Keanu.

But wait! (and here’s the catch) First you’ll need to send him a $450 gift card to “activate” your delivery.

Facebook Gift Card Scam

Unfortunately to get your money, you’ll need to send Keanu a gift card to activate your delivery. But if you don’t have $450, don’t worry! I offered him a $20 Starbucks gift card and he said that would work. He was concerned about whether I had used it yet or not. Gosh, I can’t believe he’d think I might be trying to scam him!

He did warn me I need to keep this a secret, or my winnings will be forfeited. I told him we’d better use a code word then and only refer to the gift card as “the hamster.”

I’m currently supposed to be running to the store to get a $50 hamster for Keanu. He’d like me to have it to him by 1PM. I’m deciding on what I should do next? Maybe start spamming him with hamster photos? Feel free to suggest something fun.

And watch out for those fake celebrities and Facebook scams!
