Geek of the Week is back! This time we are interviewing fellow blogger and expert geek, Oliver Deleon. Oliver is the owner and founder of Geek Extreme, a geek culture and technology site that has been his passion project since 2000. (Wow! And I thought I’d been blogging for a long time!)

As a lifelong geek, Oliver has always been fascinated by the worlds of science fiction, fantasy, and gaming. Over the years, he’s had the pleasure of connecting with fellow geeks and sharing his love for all things geeky through his blog, where he discusses the latest trends, news, and developments in geek culture and technology.

Geek of the Week Interview

What do you geek out on?

I’m a huge fan of science fiction and fantasy, both in books and on screen. I love exploring the worlds of Star Wars, Star Trek, and The Lord of the Rings, to name a few. I’m also a big gamer, with a particular fondness for RPGs and strategy games.

Were you a geeky kid, or did you come into it later in life?

I was definitely a geeky kid. I grew up reading fantasy novels and playing video games. My love for all things geeky has only grown stronger over the years.

What is your favorite game to play right now and all-time favorite game?

My current favorite game is Baldur’s Gate 3, which has an amazing story and gameplay. My all-time favorite game is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which holds a special place in my heart for its incredible world and memorable characters.

Do you attend conventions? If so, which is your favorite?

I love attending conventions, especially ones focused on geek culture and technology. My favorite is probably San Diego Comic-Con, as it brings together so many different fandoms and has a great atmosphere.

Have you ever cosplayed as a favorite character?

I have cosplayed a few times, usually as characters from my favorite video games or movies. My most memorable cosplay was dressing up as Commander Shepard from the Mass Effect series.

Now the hard stuff: DC or Marvel?

I enjoy both DC and Marvel, but if I had to choose, I’d say Marvel. I’m a big fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the interconnected storytelling it provides.

As a Geek Extreme blogger and expert on geeky things, what is your favorite thing to write about?

My favorite thing to write about is the intersection of technology and geek culture. I love exploring how new advancements in technology are changing the way we experience our favorite fandoms and hobbies.

How long have you been blogging and how did you get into it?

I’ve been blogging for over 20 years, starting with Geek Extreme in 2000. I got into it because I wanted to share my passion for geek culture and technology with others and connect with like-minded individuals.

Is there anything you are working on right now that you’d like to mention or promote?

I’m currently working on a series of articles exploring the impact of AI on the gaming industry. I’m excited to share my insights and predictions on how AI will shape the future of gaming.
