Blog Updates: New Category and Subscription Options

This blog used to be just me sharing my own personal stories, then it expanded to review posts and now it’s filled with all that plus a lot of guest posts about random things. So, I made a new category called “My Life” where my personal stuff will go.

In case you don’t know which person is me on the blog, I’m Candy Keane. Anyone else is a guest contributor.

The new My Life tab is in the Mom Life section. I’m still adding my posts to it, but you can find it here: My Life

Those posts go all the way back to my very first blog posts, before this blog was a job and mostly just me complaining about how hard it was being a mom of a toddler.

New Subscription Options

The other new change is subscription topic options. I’m not sure if you can do this retroactively, but when somebody subscribes now, they’ll get a choice of what topics they want sent.

So, if you just want cosplay stuff, or my personal stories and no guest posts, you can check the boxes for just the topics you want to read about and those will be e-mailed to you when posted.

If you haven’t signed up and are interested, there’s a subscription box at the end of this post, which is another new thing I added! All posts end with the subscription option now.

Upgrades and SEO Plug-ins

I also upgraded my WordPress plan for the first time in years. I’d been wanting to add plug-ins, and you have to have a higher level of an account to do that.

I installed All-In-One SEO and didn’t like it because there seemed to be a lot of extras with it I didn’t want, and it was very busy. It also messed up a bunch of my settings. It’s the reason all the share buttons are now on every post on the front page, and I can’t figure out how to make them go away!

I’ll be trying Yoast later today, which is what I used to use and liked it before. Hoping it is still easy to use, but if you come to the blog and things look weird, it’s because I’m messing with plug-ins.

That’s it for now. Just hoping I can make the changes I want without messing up anything else!

  1. Yoast is always the better choice of them all. If you needed any help in plugins just contact me.
