In this edition of Keane Interest, we find out if that pesky groundhog saw his shadow, visit the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire, try microneedling and discover the perfect Valentine’s gift for the manly man in your life.

Happy Groundhog Day!

For the first time in what seems like a long time, Punxsutawney Phil did NOT see his shadow! So that means spring is supposed to come early. I hope his prediction is right because I am ready for this winter to end. We actually had a really mild winter this year in Florida, but I’m just over it and ready to go back to my daily uniform of shorts and a tank top.

Tbh, probably just as accurate as the real weatherman…

Hoggetowne Medieval Faire

On Sunday we made a road trip to Gainesville to visit the 34th Annual Hoggetown Medieval Faire. The last time I went to the Hoggetowne Faire in Gainesville, FL, I was about seven months pregnant! I was excited to go back and bring my son to his first renaissance fair.

It’s definitely different going as a mom – I had never noticed that they had a lot of stuff for kids before. There were rides, little carnival games and a kid’s play area. And my son is still talking about the acrobat/fire show we saw! I definitely recommend checking it out next year. It comes back every year in mid-January to Early February.

I Got Microneedled

This one will probably be a future blog post! After I posted a pic mentioning how the scar on my eyelid sometimes gets rough and weird and bothers me, a friend suggested I try microneedling. The dermatologist I visited said it can help with fine lines and discoloration as well. It’s also minimally invasive with no downtime.

Microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) involves using fine needles to create hundreds of tiny puncture wounds in the top layer of skin. The micro-injuries created stimulate the body’s natural wound healing processes, resulting in cell turnover and increased collagen and elastin production. They numb you up first, so it doesn’t really hurt. It felt kind of like a cat licking my face. It takes a bit to see the full results because your skin needs time to heal and rebuild. I plan on doing a full blog post about the experience in a couple weeks.

Product of Keane Interest: The Manly Man Company – Unique Manly Gifts for any Occasion

Looking for a different gift for your man this Valentine’s Day? The Manly Man Co. has a super cool gift selection with lots of cool “guy stuff” like bacon roses, Poo-Pourri gift boxes, grooming can gift sets, manly gift baskets, and even bouquets of beef jerky and elk jerky flowers from Mahogany Smoked Meats!

I got to check out one of their gift baskets and it is filled with top quality jerky goodness from Carnivore Candy to flower trimmings from their own bouquets! My husband is a big fan of beef jerky so I know this would be a hit with him. Personally, I wouldn’t mind getting a box of those dark chocolate dipped bacon roses myself!

September 2024 Update: The bacon roses are no longer on the website! The do still have bouquets for men available, in the form of jerky flowers that look like daisies.

Be sure to check out their website ASAP and order early, because the bouquets do sell out! https://manlymanco.com

  1. I’m getting microneedling done in 2 weeks at Cindys new spot – keep me posted on how you like it

    • Have you looked into fractional Co2 laser treatment? (don’t let my name fool you… I have my skin care routine down and it is priiiiiiistine!)

      • I tried the laser (don’t remember which one) maybe 7 or so years ago, twice. It did great removing sunspots but it was pretty pricey and it hurt. But that was because they wouldn’t numb my face. I’ve heard some places do though.
