If anyone has contacted you posing as Robby Robinson management and asking you about doing a podcast on Facebook sponsored by Nike, run away as fast as you can!
Robby Robinson Management is the latest person/company to be spoofed in this scam where they will schedule a Zoom call and then walk you through letting them steal your Facebook page. These are the same people doing the Tony Terry podcast scam.
The E-mail Goes Like This:
Dear Candy,
This is Robby Robinson Management.
I’m a former competitive bodybuilder and current strength coach.
I’m reaching out to you and wanted to see if you may be interested in being a guest on the podcast to discuss your incredible experiences and knowledge.
I think you’d be a great fit for the audience, and I’ve been wanting to reach out to you for some time.
The show is sponsored by Nike and Robby is a brand ambassador for Nike its an online event fitness podcast, and the audience is more the serious Public Figure, Musician, Band, Artist, Lifter, Athlete, Coach, Gamer, Producer, Sportspersons etc.
And its paid event we will pay you $2k USD for each episode max 1-hour podcast.
I’m hoping you’ll consider this and we’d keep the interview around 45 minutes or so.
I’d be incredibly honored to have you.
Please let me know if this is something you’d be willing to do and this is a great way to share your message and promote your brand, as well.
I can send you the “next steps’ or answer any questions you may have.
Thanks so much and I look forward to hearing back from you either way.
All the best,
Regards, Robby Robinson
Management
Next Comes the Zoom Call
Once you reply back saying you are interested, they will schedule a Zoom call to “make sure everything runs smoothly.”
During the Zoom call, they will walk you through giving them access to your page. It doesn’t seem like a big deal, and they’ll be very helpful.
Unfortunately, before you know what’s happening, they will remove you as admin and add themselves and completely take over your account. Once your Facebook page is stolen, it’s hard to get it back.
What to Do If You Got Scammed
The key to getting your page back is to speak to a live person. You can usually get there through your advertising account, which you’ll still have access to.
Be prepared to send in a copy of your ID, and possibly a notarized statement saying you are the rightful owner. That’s what I had to do, and I got my letter notarized at the UPS Store.
Once you do that, you’ll usually get your account back in 1-2 days.
And never ever give anyone permission to access your page again!
