Around the time our children’s book was published in September last year, we entered the Story Monsters Approved book award contest. Now the winners have been announced and I’m Going to My First Comic Convention is on the winner’s list for children’s picture books!
Our First Book Award and Our First Event
The Story Monsters Approved Award is our very first award and we are excited to have the book recognized for “Excellence in Literature” for children’s picture books. This month we’ve finally started adding some book signing dates to the calendar as the world opens back up a bit and public events are coming back. Publishing a book during COVID lockdown was not the best timing! So we are excited to be adding some event dates to the calendar.
We have two events coming up in May:
The Coliseum of Comics presents: Coliseum Roadshow 2021 – Come out and visit our table on Saturday May 8th! We won’t be selling books here, but we will be doing some fun giveaways and contests.
Hall of Heroes Playworld Mini-Con at MOSH – We’ll have a table here selling books Saturday May 15th! This was originally going to be in January, but was rescheduled due to COVID caution. So now it will be the closing party for the Toytopia exhibit.
Katherine and I are very excited to finally get out there and be able to promote this book! Looking forward to seeing friends and meeting new ones. Now we just have to figure out what mask matches our cosplays… lol

Your first after-Covid convention?! That’s super exciting news! I look forward to hearing how it went in future posts…and any tips you might have for selling geeky children’s books at conventions. If all goes well, I’ll be in that position later this year (possibly the beginning of next).
