Were you contacted to do an online podcast on Facebook and get paid $3,000 per episode? Whether it’s the Tony Terry scam, or this new one where they say they are from FreshandFit Miami, it’s the same “steal your Facebook page” scam with a new face.

It Starts with a Podcast Invite

They basically have the same pitch as the Tony Terry scam. Here’s the initial e-mail:

Hello, I hope this message finds you well. We are excited to invite you to participate in our 1st online podcast, Freshandfit, Miami, that hopefully moves further toward the series. Our show will be the world’s #1 online podcast platform for public awareness & beneficial topic discussions on fitness, fashion & lifestyle, as we are already successfully working on YouTube.

As a featured guest, you will have the opportunity to share your insights and expertise on various topics that will resonate with our global audience. Our podcast series is sponsored by lululemon athletica inc., a multinational athletic brand & we are pleased to offer you $3k USD for each podcast session.

Our podcast series will be scheduled for three days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) & we have the following time slots available for each day:

•           7:00 PM to 8:00 PM EST

•           9:00 PM to 10:00 PM EST

You can choose the most convenient hour from the above given time slots. Each conversation will be one hour long; join us for one of those hours.

What Happens When You Respond

So of course, I answered them back for more info on this awesome opportunity! And this was their reply:

Regarding the recording process, we have made arrangements to ensure a smooth and convenient experience for all participants, regardless of their locations. We will be using the Facebook platform for the video podcast call in type & all artists will join from their respective locations through their Facebook pages. Our team of experts will be on hand to guide you through a small meeting to help you set up your recording setup and address any technical requirements you may have.

Following the recording, the episodes will be aired on various platforms, reaching a wide and diverse audience. We are excited to announce that the podcast series will commence on the 18th of July and will continue three days a week thereafter, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. You have selected the time 7-8pm EST, please select a day or date also to move towards further collaboration.

And this is where they walk you through them stealing your Facebook page.

The next steps involve setting up a zoom call, where they will walk you through making the “necessary changes to join the podcast” which are the steps that will allow them to steal your page. Before you know it, they will have booted you out as admin and taken it over completely.

I hope you Googled and found this post before you fell for it! This is the first I’ve seen from FreshandFit, and they don’t seem to have had their own page stolen, which leads me to believe these scammers are starting to just use any name they can find.

And here’s the kicker- they are still using poor Tony Terry’s name. This is the Zoom call confirmation I got. (I’m not actually doing it, but just going along with it for more info)
