Week in Review: NYE, Painted Rocks and Enchanting Cosplay

Hey there! I’m back with the first Week in Review for 2019, and only a couple of weeks behind. I slacked off on the round-up during the holiday, but the kiddo went back to preschool (finally!) so I guess it’s time for me to get it back together.

Week in Review – 1/1 – 1/12

Happy New Year!

We had a great New Year’s Eve, and we didn’t even leave the neighborhood. Instead of trying to make big plans, we decided to hang out by our new fire pit and just chat with neighbors as they walked by. We ended up getting invited to a dinner a few houses down and then the kids got to play with sparklers and shoot off a few fireworks. It was actually the best NYE I’ve had in a while! It was just really relaxed and fun hanging with the neighbors and kids.

Rockin’ the Beaches

We hadn’t found a painted rock or “Kindness Rock” in a while and then found one at the beach on Monday. Then later that week found two more at the park.

The one we found at the beach was from Blairsville, GA! It’s always neat to find rocks from other places, or when you are traveling. I feel like I found a tiny treasure every time I spot one. I just stocked up on some white paint and a new set of paint markers so we can make a few to hide around our neighborhood.

Kindness rocks are hand-painted rocks containing inspirational messages or colorful designs, often displayed in public spaces for others to find. This simple act of kindness aims to spread joy and encouragement within communities, prompting people to take a moment for kindness in the midst of their day.

The rocks can be found by chance, creating a sense of surprise and delight for those who stumble upon them. Additionally, individuals are also free to re-hide the rocks for others to discover, keeping the cycle of positivity and goodwill flowing. It’s a creative and heartwarming way to connect with others and brighten someone’s day unexpectedly.

We love finding them around our neighborhood!

Enchantress and Scarlet Witch

I started 2019 off with a new cosplay- Amora the Enchantress. I had been wanting to make this one for a while and the materials were just sitting in a drawer for years.

I also put together a Scarlet Witch costume for my friend Effie, who also happens to be my latest featured Geek of the Week. We wore the outfits to the closing weekend of a History of Superheroes exhibit at the Jacksonville Museum of Science and History.

And that wraps up another week! Hope you all had a good one.
