Half the Calories, All the Taste
Taste-testing better-for-you chocolate bars isn’t a bad way to end the week, so I gave in to my sweet tooth and thoroughly tried each variety of GATSBY chocolate: Sea Salt Extra Dark Chocolate Bar, Almond Dark Chocolate Bar, and Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups. I also had my husband and son give them a try to see what they thought. Overall the results were an A+ for taste and a B for texture. This is something I’d definitely indulge in again.
Sea Salt Extra Dark Chocolate Bar
I’m a dark chocolate fan, so this one was my favorite. It has the right balance of bitterness and sweetness. The difference we noticed is a slight lightness in the texture. Not sure how to describe it…like it doesn’t feel as heavy in your mouth as chocolate usually does, but the taste has all the flavor it should. It’s like it wants to melt as soon as you put it in your mouth. The surface also feels a bit different than regular chocolate. It’s a bit oily on your fingers like it’s ready to melt when you touch it.
GATSBY’s Sea Salt Extra Dark Chocolate is 60 calories per serving, which is half of the other leading premium chocolate bars on the market. And with only 2 grams of sugar per serving, you can go ahead and eat more than one little square.
Almond Dark Chocolate Bar
This one was another winner for the dark chocolate flavor, but I would prefer it to have more almond chunks in it. The flavor kind of all blends together instead of it being a chocolate with the almond crunch, it’s more on the blended side. But still very yummy!
The almond bar clocks in at 70 calories per serving, so there are enough almond bits in it to raise the calorie content a bit! It has the same 2 grams of sugar per serving as the extra dark bar.
Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups
My husband gave these a thumbs up, but I didn’t like them all that much because I don’t really like milk chocolate. So my opinion was due to that and not the chocolate itself. I did still give them a good try and they tasted like the peanut butter cups I recall liking when I was little. I guess I’ve gotten old and bitter and just like the dark chocolate now, haha.
The main thing I noticed was there seems to be less of the peanut butter filling then I recall seeing in Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I used to freeze those and then break off the milk chocolate and eat the peanut buttery middle so that’s why I noticed! I cut one open to check and there is just a sliver of peanut butter filling going through it. They are a good size though, so you get plenty of chocolate!
With GATSBY’S Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups you can enjoy two for the calories of one. With only 2 grams of sugar and 50 calories, these peanut butter cups have 50-60% less calories than comparable brands.
A Delicious Chocolate Alternative
GATSBY chocolates offer a delightful alternative for chocolate lovers seeking to indulge without the guilt of excessive calories and sugar. With standout flavors such as the Sea Salt Extra Dark Chocolate Bar and the Almond Dark Chocolate Bar, there’s something to please every palate.
Ultimately, GATSBY has successfully created a line of chocolate products that balance taste and health, making them a worthwhile addition to any sweet tooth’s collection. Whether you’re enjoying them alone or sharing with family, these chocolates prove that you can satisfy your cravings while keeping nutrition in mind.
