It used to bug the crap out of me when I’d see “mom” in someone’s bio. True story. I was like, I see you’re a mom, I feel that’s one of those things you don’t really have to tell me. The entire “Mommy Blog” trend annoyed me. I thought separating them into their own category was just silly. This was of course because I had no idea what I was talking about.
So now, here I am, with “mom” usually first in my short bio. It took me so long to become a mom, that people are just lucky I don’t walk around wearing a badge that loudly proclaims my mom status. Oh wait. I’m usually dragging a toddler while wearing clothing with various food smears and have Cheerios in my hair. I think that speaks for itself.
Today I got the message that my blog was finally accepted into the Top Mommy Blogs website. For some reason, it made me feel a little more official. Maybe because I got a cute cartoon badge. But also because I decided to embrace the fact that yes, I am a Mommy Blogger. That’s what I enjoy writing about the best – being a mom and raising my son and all the crazy things that come with it. <3
*2020 Update: The site I mentioned here, Top Mommy Blogs, abruptly closed down last year. But I’m still here! And still a blogging mommy!

The last thing I thought I’d ever have was a mommy blog too. Hell, I never was banking on having kids. Amara was quite the surprise for us considering we had only been married for 5 months when we found out. But having this “identifying” blog has done wonders for my postpartum depression/anxiety and it also has helped me educate others who don’t quite understand.
It totally helps keep me sane! 🙂
For real. The blog and my short time at the gym on a daily basis keeps me sane. The writing allows me to rant and the working out allows me to blast angry music, lift heavy, and be kid free for an hour. I can reset, reevaluate and just reboot so I can handle the rest of the day.
Do you have a different blog somewhere? When I click your username it says the blog was deleted. But it sounds like you are still blogging!
I’m now under ThatNerdyFitnessMom. I don’t know why I still come up under as my old name. I need to see about changing it.
It has it linked to sexygamergirldotorg. Sexy Gamer Girl to Nerdy Fitness Mom…hey that’s my story too! lol
Congratulations on getting the official badge. 🙂
thank you 🙂
Congrats <3
Thank you 🙂
I know what you mean about being hesitant to embrace the mommy blogger thing! Congrats on your Top Mommy acceptance, I’ll be voting 😀
Thank you!! I can’t deny it anymore. I am a mommy blogger and proud of it lol
Super cute post! I used to feel the same about people identifying as mommy above all other things and like you, I’ve since had kids and totally understand it!
Thanks 🙂 It has taken some getting used to, but there are SO many things I understand now, lol
Congrats!!! I hated the you don’t get it unless you have kids stories…..then I had kids……and now my stubborn ass has to admit I GET IT lol
It’s sooooooo true! Lol
your awesome! I totally agree, sometimes finding a platform to just let us moms rant would help put us at peace with ourselves. thanks for sharing!
Congrats! I just started a mommy blog (only 1 post in) and felt the exact same way before becoming a mom. Funny how quickly things change!
It’s better after I just embraced it, lol.
